History:

1996: Mexican officials closed Sunrise Beach following an inspection that revealed improper immigration papers, unsanitary conditions, and signs of abuse.

Directors Glenda (aka Glen) and Steven Roach were arrested while trying to flee the country.

Noteworthy:

In 1998, just 2 years after the closure of Sunrise Beach, Glenda and Steven Roach were arrested for child abuse again when Czech officials closed down Morava Academy following allegations of child abuse and torture.
